Situated on the Well Creek, Upwell is one of the most picturesque villages in Fenland.  St Peter’s Church originating in the 13th century, is well wortha visit. It has an unusual tower. Inside there are 25 carved oak angels in the roof looking down into two victorian galleries.

The Five Bells Inn serves home made food and real ales daily. Tel 01945 772222 with moorings here provided by the Well Creek Trust. You can obtain the key to the water point on the moorings from the pub for a small fee.

If you need supplies M& J Newsagents and Grocers 01945 773507, Brian Tweed Family Butchers 01945 773248 and Millies Pantry (Cakeshop & Bakery) 01945 77401 should be able to assist.

From here you can take the short bus journey to the Georgian town of Wisbech where you can visit the Octavia Hill Birth Place Museum, Peckover House and the Thomas Clarkson memorial as well as Wisbech’s many shops.
